The tour took place at 14.00 on Thursday 10th July.
"HMS Bulwark, the second of a new class of assault ship, was launched at the BAE Systems shipyard at Barrow-in-Furness on 15 November 2001. The seventh ship to carry the name, she was named by Lady Walker, the wife of General Sir Michael Walker.
Formally commissioned into the Royal Navy on 28 April 2005, HMS
Bulwark is currently the Fleet Amphibious Flagship and High Readiness
Assault Ship, ready for worldwide tasking.
HMS
Bulwark has spent much of 2008 taking part in large multinational
amphibious exercises. Initially participating in a number of exercises
in UK waters, including acting as the Command Platform for the staff of
Commodore Amphibious Task Group and HQ 3 Commando Brigade Royal
Marines, the ship moved to the waters around Norway for an exercise,
during which she assumed the role of Flagship for the Commander of the
UK’s Amphibious Task Group, and a joint Danish and Netherlands Mine
Counter Measure Group. More recently, she has participated in a Baltic
Maritime Exercise with elements of Scandinavian and Russian defence
forces.
HMS Bulwark maintains a busy programme for the remainder of the year with a mixture of Exercises, Defence Diplomacy visits and maintenance and trials periods."
